Many people believe that Neuro Linguistic Programming is the study of excellence, but really it is the study of freedom. It shows you how to be free from the past, free from beliefs that limit success, free from negative emotions that create stress, free to communicate effectively and free to use outstanding tools and strategies to create what you want in your life. NLP gives you a comprehensive understanding of the mind and emotions and how these affect behaviour and wellbeing. As a result, it can be applied to any area of life.
When Napoleon Hill wrote the book, Think and Grow Rich, the power of thinking in order to create success was popularised. As with many personal development books there was an emphasis on focusing your thoughts on what you want. What do you do, however, when you find your focus slipping back to old habits and thought patterns? Why are some areas of your life easier to change than others?
Why can you make a decision to do something and find that you simply do not take the action? What causes people to stay in relationships that are not healthy? Why do some diseases have no medical cause? Why do many bright children not succeed at school?
These are the questions NLP answers. NLP is really the manual for the mind and gives you step-by-step tools for using language and the power of creative imagination to become successful and clear away self-sabotage.
NLP was co-created in the 1970s by Richard Bandier (a Mathematician) and John Grinder (a Professor of Linguistics). What distinguished it from other studies of the mind, such as psychology, is that rather than studying dysfunctional people, NLP was the study of how outstanding therapists gained extraordinary results.
